The JimProv website and YouTube Channel is a gathering place for music lovers, creative artists, and musicians who seek new ways to Explore, Play, and Create their own music and art. JimProv video tutorials provide multiple learning methods for a more complete understanding of a topic or technique. My lessons and tutorials are designed to 1) reveal new pathways of exploration, 2) demonstrate the FUN of playing as a means of discovery, and 3) show how this process leads to the creation of art and music.         

An ASCAP member since 1992, I have written music for ‘Saturday Night Live’, HBO, ESPN, international TV and radio commercials, documentary films, and museum installations. My work as a composer/songwriter comes directly from my love for musical improvisation, which has impacted every role in my life; as a business owner, sculptor, graphic artist, designer, husband, and dad. I strongly believe that the ability to think creatively and playfully is a skill that can be applied to everything - from childhood playtime to business careers and all areas in between.
